The Company

Global freight forwarding company with a €1.5bn turnover, are looking for a an experienced freight forwarding Business Development Manager to work in the North West / Leeds.

The Role

The purpose of the role is to achieve profitable sales for all Aprile’s products (OCEAN, AIR and LAND) on a multi-trade basis through direct contact with new and existing clients. Our focus trade are Italy/China/USA/LATAM import and export.

Main individual responsibilities:

  • Achieve and exceed target in value and volume
  • Achieve activity targets and ensure loaded in CRM with 100% data quality score
  • Plan and organise sale activities
  • Make effective visits to customers to obtain factual information
  • Report accurately on customer visits and customer details on the database
  • Arrange appropriate follow-up of customer visits
  • Expand the boundaries of current business
  • Exceed sales budget
  • Strategies developed to stay ahead of competition 
  • Administration and reporting procedures prior to handover of client
  • Adapt to and live the company values

The ideal Person:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in the Freight Forwarding Industry (No ex Carriers, ex Trucking company etc)
  • 5 years direct experience as Business Development Manager - Field sales
  • Relevant background of customer service / operations.
  • Sales and Marketing experience
  • CRM usage
