Are you interested in working for a global leader within the automotive aftermarket who operates in over 70 countries and is a family-owned business that has an enviable reputation spanning all continents?   

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced business development manager to join the expanding global and highly reputable company working in the independent automotive aftermarket in the truck division. 

You will represent some of the most widely recognised brands in the UK aftermarket. Covering the UK and Ireland, you will manage an exclusive customer base to deliver agreed objectives and maximise the sales and opportunities of the group portfolio.

Main duties include:

  • Promote the sale of products/services to new and existing customers whilst maintaining extensive knowledge of current market conditions
  • Assist in the implementation of business plans for designated customers
  • Have detailed knowledge or understanding of the group brands, the company’s competitors and how the group operates in the UK aftermarket
  • Ensure the necessary technical training and development of customers at branch level is catered for by encouraging and motivating the sale of products, systems and solutions
  • Analyse, review and act upon sales trends and profitability of a specified customer base
  • Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution to lead to an increase in sales
  • Monitor the activities of competitors; identify customer views and perceptions

Working alongside a well-established sales team, you will be responsible for nationwide account visits, regular regional meetings as well as support to the Key Account Managers.

Essential skills include;

  • Experience of relationship-building with key customers to develop a successful mutually beneficial relationship
  • Ability to successfully negotiate and apply judgment appropriately to achieve win-win agreements with customers in relation to turnover and profit
  • Demonstrate a sound knowledge of the marketplace and competition
  • Ability to communicate and make presentations professionally and appropriately at branch level
  • Resilience within a changing and competitive environment
  • Experience working in the automotive aftermarket is desirable

This is a role covering a national customer base, so travel will be a requirement of the role. You will be ideally located centrally within the UK, however, for the right person, the company is flexible.
