About the Role
Technical Sales Support – Automotive Aftermarket
Home-Based | UK-Wide Travel
£42,683 Basic Salary + Company Vehicle + 26 Days Holiday + Pension + Life Assurance
Are you an experienced automotive technician who enjoys solving technical problems but would love to spend more time working with people rather than being on the tools all day?
Perhaps you're a Master Technician, Diagnostic Technician, Technical Trainer or Technical Support Specialist looking for something different.
What if you could use your technical knowledge to help workshops solve problems, train technicians, support distributors and make a genuine difference to how vehicles are maintained and repaired?
We're recruiting a Technical Sales Support professional for an established global automotive aftermarket manufacturer.
This is a home-based, customer-facing role that combines technical expertise, training, troubleshooting and commercial support. You'll be working with motor factors, distributors and independent garages across the UK, helping them get the best from a range of quality braking products.
Why Apply?
-
£42,683 basic salary
-
Company vehicle provided
-
Home-based position with UK-wide travel
-
26 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays
-
Company pension scheme
-
Life assurance worth three times your annual salary
-
37.5-hour working week
-
Opportunity to work with an established global automotive manufacturer
-
Move away from the daily workshop routine while continuing to use your technical skills
-
Training and development to keep your braking system knowledge up to date
The Opportunity
This isn't a traditional sales role, and you won't be expected to spend your days simply chasing orders.
Your technical expertise will be what makes the difference.
You'll work alongside distributor sales representatives, visiting independent garages, advising technicians and helping workshop owners understand the benefits of using quality braking components.
You'll troubleshoot technical issues, demonstrate best practice, deliver training and help customers improve repair standards while reducing unnecessary warranty claims.
There is a commercial element to the role, but your ability to build trust through technical knowledge will be far more important than having a background in sales.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll be responsible for:
-
Visiting garages independently or alongside distributor representatives to provide technical advice and support
-
Helping technicians diagnose and resolve braking system issues
-
Demonstrating best practice when fitting and replacing braking components
-
Supporting distributors in developing relationships with their workshop customers
-
Explaining the technical features and benefits of braking products, with an emphasis on safety, quality and performance
-
Delivering product and technical training to garage technicians, distributor teams and internal colleagues
-
Presenting technical training evenings and practical demonstrations
-
Supporting training sessions at the company's UK training centre
-
Investigating product complaints, including stripping and rebuilding braking systems where required
-
Providing technical advice that helps reduce warranty claims and improve customer satisfaction
-
Supporting the UK sales team with customer development and market feedback
-
Working with colleagues across sales, product management and technical departments
You'll also have the opportunity to interact with technical specialists and colleagues across the wider international business.
What We're Looking For
Your technical knowledge and ability to communicate with people are what really matter.
We're particularly interested in speaking with people who have experience as a:
-
Vehicle Technician or Master Technician
-
Diagnostic Technician
-
Automotive Technical Trainer
-
Technical Support Engineer or Technical Advisor
-
Workshop Controller or Workshop Foreman with strong hands-on technical experience
-
Automotive aftermarket technical specialist
Ideally, you'll have:
-
A minimum Level 2 qualification in Motor Vehicle Technology or equivalent experience
-
Strong knowledge of vehicle braking systems
-
Practical experience diagnosing and resolving mechanical problems
-
Experience within the automotive industry
-
Confidence explaining technical information to different audiences
-
Good interpersonal and communication skills
-
The ability to organise your own workload and customer visits
-
A full, clean UK driving licence
-
A willingness to travel throughout the UK
Knowledge of heavy commercial vehicles would be advantageous, although not essential.
Previous sales experience isn't necessary. If you understand vehicles, enjoy helping people and can build relationships with technicians and workshop owners, we'd like to hear from you.
Why Consider a Move?
If you've spent years developing your technical skills, it can be difficult to find a role that offers something different without leaving the automotive industry behind.
This opportunity allows you to do exactly that.
You'll still be solving technical problems and working with vehicles, but you'll also be meeting new people, sharing your expertise, developing your presentation skills and representing an established manufacturer.
You'll be valued for what you know, not simply how many jobs you can complete in a workshop.
If that sounds like the kind of next step you've been looking for, we'd welcome a conversation.
