Job Hopping Mistakes That We Can All Avoid..

Most of us at some stage have changed companies only to realise that the new company or the role is not what we thought it would be.

The most common reasons which regularly come up when speaking with people who are unhappy in their new role are:

1. Not doing enough research – some job seekers spend more time researching their summer holiday resort than they do the company that could be providing their financial security for the next few years.
2. Leaving for money – an excessive focus on money will mean that we do not carry out adequate research on the company.
3. Jumping ‘from’ rather than ‘to’ a role – sometimes unhappiness in a current role means that we overlook the potential problems we may face in a new role.
4. Thinking short term – having a short term perspective will mean that we will probably fall into the each of the previous mistakes which lead us into a serious career misstep.

As I have written about a number of times, moving companies should be the last thing you do. Always address your issues with your current employer and only if they can’t be redressed, you should consider moving.
