About the Role

Business Development Manager – Automotive Warranties

North West

Employed or Self-Employed Options | Excellent Commission Potential

Already successful in automotive warranty sales but want more freedom to do the job your way?

This is an opportunity to join an established automotive warranty provider that takes a refreshingly straightforward approach to managing its salespeople.

No constant demands for CRM updates. No unnecessary micromanagement. No one looking over your shoulder asking where you've been every hour of the day.

Instead, you'll be trusted to manage your own territory, develop relationships with motor dealers and use your existing experience and contacts to grow the business.

And if you perform, you'll be rewarded for it.

The Opportunity

Our client is looking to strengthen its field sales team.

You'll be responsible for developing warranty business with motor dealers across your territory, combining new business development with the growth of existing relationships.

Importantly, they're not looking for someone who needs to be taught the automotive warranty market.

They want someone already operating within the sector who understands dealers, understands warranties and can hit the ground running.

What You'll Do

You'll take ownership of your territory and be trusted to develop it.

  • Building relationships with independent and franchised motor dealers
  • Winning new dealer accounts and developing them into long-term customers
  • Growing warranty sales through existing relationships
  • Identifying dealers where there is genuine potential to increase business
  • Understanding individual dealer requirements and recommending the right warranty solutions
  • Building and managing your own sales pipeline
  • Negotiating commercially sensible agreements that work for both the dealer and the business
  • Keeping abreast of competitor activity and opportunities within your territory
  • Above all, you'll be expected to think commercially, create opportunities and deliver results without needing someone constantly telling you what to do.

What We're Looking For

This is specifically for someone with current or recent automotive warranty sales experience.

You'll need an established understanding of the automotive warranty market and experience selling directly to motor dealers.

We're particularly interested in people who are self-motivated, commercially minded and comfortable being judged on results rather than activity reports.

If you're used to running your own diary, building dealer relationships and generating your own opportunities, you'll fit the culture well.

Employed or Self-Employed

There's flexibility for the right person.

For an employed Business Development Manager, the current package includes a £36,000 basic salary, with commission increasing according to performance. Monthly targets build during the first six months as you establish the territory. In addition, you will receive a car or car allowance, penion and additional benefits.

Commission rates currently range from 2.5% to 7.5% depending on monthly sales performance.

For experienced salespeople who prefer to operate on a self-employed basis, there's a significantly higher commission structure, currently ranging from 7.5% to 15% depending on sales performance, subject to the scheme's qualifying criteria.

There's also an introductory guarantee structure designed to support self-employed people while they establish their territory.

Full details of the commission structure will be discussed during the recruitment process.

Why Consider It?

For the right warranty salesperson, the attraction is simple.

You'll be joining an established business that wants experienced people and then trusts them to do their job.

  • A territory with genuine growth potential
  • The autonomy to manage your own diary
  • Minimal bureaucracy and micromanagement
  • A commission structure that rewards performance
  • The opportunity to use the relationships and market knowledge you've already built
  • A business that is actively looking to grow its field sales team
  • If you're performing well where you are but feel restricted by constant reporting, excessive management or a commission scheme that doesn't adequately reward your results, this could be worth a confidential conversation.
