About the Role
Sales Manager – Commercial Vehicle Aftermarket
UK & Ireland
£60,000 - £64,000 + 25% Bonus + Company Car + Excellent Benefits
Want to play a key role in an ambitious growth plan with a major global automotive aftermarket business?
This is an opportunity to take commercial responsibility for developing the UK commercial vehicle aftermarket, combining established distributor relationships with a clear mandate to win new business, increase market share and develop relationships with major fleets.
You'll have a recognised international business behind you, but this isn't an account maintenance role.
You'll be out in the market, strengthening relationships with key CV distributors, getting closer to fleet customers, identifying opportunities and turning them into sustainable sales.
If you already know the UK commercial vehicle aftermarket and have the relationships to make an impact, this is an opportunity to put that experience to work on a significant growth project.
Why Apply?
- £60,000 - £64,000 basic salary
- 25% performance-related bonus
- Company car
- Excellent wider benefits package
- Take a key role in the ambitious UK growth plan
- Work with established commercial vehicle distributors and key accounts
- Significant autonomy to develop the market
- International exposure within a global automotive organisation
- Opportunity to influence how the UK CV business develops
The Opportunity
The business has ambitious plans for its commercial vehicle division and needs someone who can help turn those plans into sales.
You'll take responsibility for driving profitable growth across the UK, developing existing customers while identifying where the next opportunities will come from.
That means understanding the market, the distributors, the fleets, the competition and where the business can gain ground.
You'll develop and execute sales plans aligned with wider commercial objectives, with responsibility for revenue, margin, market share and customer development.
Your Customers
Relationships are going to be crucial.
You'll work closely with key commercial vehicle distributors and aftermarket customers, so an existing network within the sector will give you a significant advantage.
But the role goes further than distribution.
A particularly important part of the position will be developing relationships with major commercial vehicle fleets.
You'll get closer to fleet operators, understand their requirements and use those relationships to identify opportunities that ultimately drive demand and sales through the appropriate aftermarket channels.
The original brief specifically highlights strong relationships with key existing CV distributors and regular visits to important fleet customers as important elements of the role.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll:
- Drive profitable sales growth across the UK commercial vehicle aftermarket
- Develop and execute sales plans against ambitious growth objectives
- Manage and grow relationships with distributors, key accounts and other commercial partners
- Develop relationships with major commercial vehicle fleets
- Lead commercial negotiations, pricing discussions and customer agreements
- Represent the business professionally across the UK CV aftermarket
What We're Looking For
This role needs someone who understands the commercial vehicle aftermarket.
Ideally, you'll already have strong relationships with distributors and understand how the UK CV parts market operates.
You could currently be working as a:
- Sales Manager
- National Account Manager
- Key Account Manager
- Business Development Manager
- Regional Sales Manager
- Commercial Manager
What matters more than your current title is your network, commercial ability and track record of growing business.
You'll Need to Enjoy Being Out There
This isn't a predominantly home-office sales position. The business wants somebody visible in the market.
You'll spend a significant proportion of your time visiting distributors, customers and fleet operators throughout the UK, with the JD anticipating travel of 60% or more.
That means managing your own diary, deciding where your time will have the greatest commercial impact and being comfortable spending much of your working week in front of customers.
Why Consider It?
The business has an ambitious plan to grow its commercial vehicle presence, and this position will be instrumental in delivering it.
You'll have the backing and resources of a major international automotive organisation, existing distributor relationships and an established presence in the market.
What they need is somebody who can take that platform and build from it.
If you know the commercial vehicle aftermarket, have strong distributor relationships and enjoy the challenge of developing new business, this could be a very interesting next move.
