About the Role

Mobile Technical Trainer & Product Support

Home Based | UK & Ireland

£40,000 + Excellent Benefits

Could you stand in front of a room full of experienced technicians and teach them something they don't already know? And would you be just as comfortable explaining it in a 60-second video for social media?

This is not a conventional technical trainer role.

You'll join a highly respected global automotive aftermarket manufacturer and take a state-of-the-art mobile training facility directly to motor factors, distributors, garages and automotive professionals across the UK and Ireland.

You'll deliver hands-on training, demonstrate the latest battery and diagnostic technology and help experienced people understand how changing vehicle technology affects the way batteries are selected, fitted, tested and diagnosed.

And increasingly, you won't just do that face-to-face.

You'll also help take that technical knowledge online, creating short, useful and engaging video content that answers the questions technicians and parts professionals are actually asking.

If you know the automotive aftermarket, enjoy talking to people and have the personality to make technical subjects interesting, this could be a brilliant next step.

Why Apply?

  • £40,000 basic salary
  • Home-based field role
  • 37.5-hour working week
  • 24 days holiday plus bank holidays, increasing with service
  • Your birthday off
  • Holiday buy and sell scheme
  • Enhanced employer pension contribution
  • Health cash plan
  • Life assurance
  • Salary sacrifice benefits
  • Full product and train-the-trainer support
  • Your own state-of-the-art mobile training facility
  • A highly visible role within a globally recognised automotive aftermarket manufacturer
  • Genuine opportunity to help shape how the role develops

The Opportunity

Vehicle technology is changing quickly.

Start-stop systems, AGM and EFB batteries, increasingly complex vehicle electronics and the growth of hybrid and electric vehicles mean battery technology isn't as straightforward as it once was.

The people you'll be speaking to already know their industry.

Your job is to educate the educated.

You'll travel throughout the UK and Ireland, delivering practical and engaging sessions to technicians, parts professionals, motor factors, distributors and other aftermarket customers.

You'll need to be comfortable talking to everyone from a technician on the workshop floor to a Managing Director in the boardroom.

And you'll need the personality to make people want to listen.

You'll Also Take the Message Online

This is an important part of the position.

Technicians and parts professionals increasingly learn through social media, short videos and online technical content.

You'll help the business reach them in the same way.

That could mean recording a short video answering a common technical question, explaining a new technology or demonstrating how to diagnose a particular problem.

You don't need to be a professional presenter or content creator.

But you do need to be comfortable in front of a camera, confident using social media and able to explain technical subjects naturally and with personality.

The aim isn't polished corporate content.

It's credible, useful information that someone working behind a parts counter or in a workshop will actually want to watch.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll:

  • Deliver face-to-face technical training throughout the UK and Ireland
  • Take ownership of a highly equipped mobile training facility and its demonstration equipment
  • Visit motor factors, distributors, garages and other aftermarket customers
  • Deliver practical product and diagnostic demonstrations
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting to customers and the sales team
  • Present at exhibitions, customer events and roadshows
  • Record short technical videos and contribute ideas for social media
  • Support trade press and wider technical marketing activity
  • Deliver virtual training where appropriate
  • Feed customer questions, competitor activity and market intelligence back into the business
  • Help shape future training content based on what you're hearing in the field

There will be extensive travel and overnight stays, so you'll need to genuinely enjoy being out meeting customers rather than looking for a predictable desk-based routine.

What We're Looking For

Your personality will matter just as much as your technical knowledge.

You need to be someone who can walk into a room, build rapport quickly and hold people's attention.

You'll ideally already be working within the automotive aftermarket, perhaps for a:

  • Motor factor
  • Automotive parts manufacturer
  • Garage or workshop
  • Diagnostic equipment business
  • Technical aftermarket supplier

You could currently be working in technical support, product, sales or training.

Alternatively, you might be an experienced technician or diagnostic specialist who wants to move away from the workshop and into a more varied, customer-facing career.

You'll need a good understanding of vehicle electrical systems, automotive maintenance and repair, and ideally battery technology and electrical diagnosis.

You don't need to know everything from day one. Full product training will be provided.

What is harder to teach is the personality.

We're looking for someone who is:

Confident. Curious. Engaging. Technically credible. Comfortable across social media. And genuinely enjoys meeting people.

Previous training or presentation experience would be useful, but it isn't essential. Full train-the-trainer support will be provided.

Why Consider It?

You'll be joining a major international manufacturer with an outstanding reputation within the automotive aftermarket.

More importantly, this is a role you can really make your own.

You'll be given the tools, technology, training and support to succeed, but you'll also have the freedom to bring your own personality and ideas to how technical training is delivered.

One day you could be presenting to experienced technicians. The next you might be demonstrating technology at a customer event, supporting a distributor or recording a short technical video that reaches thousands of people across the trade.

If you know the aftermarket, understand the technology and think you'd enjoy being in front of a customer, we'd like to hear from you.
