About the Role

Regional Sales Manager – Automotive Aftermarket

Scotland, Yorkshire & North East

£50,000 + Bonus + Company Car + Enhanced Pension + Excellent Benefits

Want to take ownership of a substantial territory, represent some of the best-known brands in the automotive aftermarket and have the freedom to develop the region your way?

This is an opportunity to join an established international automotive aftermarket group with a portfolio of widely recognised brands and a strong existing customer base.

You'll inherit an exclusive territory covering Scotland, Yorkshire and the North East, developing established customers while identifying where the next opportunities for growth will come from.

If you know the aftermarket, enjoy being out with customers and prefer having the autonomy to make things happen rather than being managed from behind a desk, this should appeal.

Why Apply?

  • £50,000 basic salary
  • Performance-related bonus
  • Company car
  • Enhanced company pension
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Represent a portfolio of established automotive aftermarket brands
  • Existing customer base to develop
  • Genuine opportunity to win new business and grow your territory
  • Autonomy to manage your region and customer relationships
  • Support from an experienced UK sales team
  • Long-term career opportunity within an international automotive group

The Opportunity

You'll take commercial responsibility for the region, with a clear objective: grow sales and gross profit across the territory.

There is an established customer base to manage, but this isn't simply an account maintenance position.

You'll be expected to understand where the opportunities are, develop relationships with existing customers, identify new prospects and make sure the company's portfolio is properly represented across the region.

A large proportion of your time will be spent in the field, meeting customers and developing business.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll:

  • Manage and develop an established customer base across Scotland, Yorkshire and the North East
  • Identify, develop and secure new business opportunities
  • Build strong relationships with customers and key decision-makers
  • Develop regional sales plans to increase revenue and gross profit
  • Identify opportunities to increase penetration of the wider product and brand portfolio
  • Develop the most effective local distribution strategy for individual brands
  • Meet and exceed regional sales targets
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify new commercial opportunities
  • Maintain accurate sales activity and opportunity information through the CRM
  • Coordinate local marketing activity and the distribution of point-of-sale material
  • Communicate new product introductions and relevant commercial information to customers
  • Represent the business at regional and national trade shows

The territory is substantial, so there will be regular travel throughout Scotland, Yorkshire and the North East, together with some overnight stays.

What We're Looking For

You'll ideally already understand the automotive aftermarket and how parts manufacturers, distributors, factors and their customers operate.

We're particularly interested in people with experience across:

  • Passenger car parts
  • Automotive aftermarket distribution
  • Parts manufacturers and suppliers

You don't necessarily need to know every product in the portfolio from day one, but you will need the commercial curiosity to understand different product groups and identify where they fit within your customers' businesses.

You'll also need to be:

  • Comfortable spending the majority of your working week in front of customers
  • Commercially driven and motivated by growing a territory
  • Confident developing both existing and new business
  • Able to build credible relationships with customers at different levels
  • Self-motivated and comfortable managing your own diary
  • Equally comfortable working independently and as part of an experienced sales team
  • Competent using Microsoft platforms and CRM systems
  • A full UK driving licence holder

Why Consider It?

You won't be starting with an unknown product and being asked to create a market from nothing.

You'll have established brands, an existing customer base and the backing of a major international automotive aftermarket organisation.

What the business wants from you is the energy and commercial ability to take that platform and make the territory bigger.

For somebody who enjoys being out in the market, building relationships, spotting opportunities and seeing the direct impact of their work on sales growth, it's an excellent opportunity.
